Jonah Dekker-Bauer '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Jonah Lopez Dekker-Bauer, I am a setter that is looking to continue playing through my post-secondary education. My academic interests lie in the area of health sciences, kinesiology/exercise sciences to be more precise.  I truly have a passion for volleyball and am continually learning and studying my position.  While I am an undersized setter I believe this has benefited me in my volleyball journey as it has led me to become more technical in my setting and more tactical offensively and well as defensively. I observe and learn our opponents quickly to be able to provide the best opportunities offensively for my hitters to evade our opponents defense. I enjoy digging up balls and blocking to do my part on defense and transition quickly to offense. I believe my previous experience in the competitive sports of gymnastics, diving and soccer have taught me how to motivate myself and my team to persevere when things may not be going our way. If I have the opportunity I like to arrive early or stay after practice to get in more setting reps or to work one on one with a hitter to create a strong bond and learn their preference of height and tempo for different sets.
