I've played many sports over my childhood, but volleyball was different. I started volleyball at a later age than many of my teammates, but my love for the sport and my quick adaptability made my transition a lot easier. I really liked the chemistry between my teammates that weren't there when I played soccer, tennis, baseball, or even basketball. I started my path to volleyball at HVA where I was an outside hitter. As I transitioned to becoming a setter in 2020 at Houston Stars, I attained a good balance of all skills necessary for volleyball. I've really started to love volleyball recently as I've been lucky to have my current coach, Coach Carlos Gutierrez, who really fueled my love for volleyball once again along with the other coach at Houston Stars, Coach Aric Anderson.
In terms of volleyball, I've also been training at the Metal Chapter with Heidi Johnson to increase my vertical . There, I focus on strength and movement training like plyometrics to increase my speed on the court. I also mainly do strength during the summer.
Besides volleyball, I also do well in school and maintain great grades. The past months, I've taken 6 AP tests and continue my learning through the summer by volunteering at the Museum of Natural Science here in Houston where I have been vetted (which is when you get the green light to give tours to groups of people after giving a practice tour to a very knowledgeable docent) in more than half the exhibits. I also have other hobbies like woodworking and leatherworking that give me a creative outlet.
