Personal Statement

My name is Anthony Runsmedicine Singingwater and I am a senior at Uintah River High School. My goal is to be able to continue to play volleyball in college plus get a bachelors degree. I played volleyball for three years and had taken my sophomore year off due to covid causing my school to not have a season. I wasn't able to do club due to the fact I didn't live close to one and had broken my hand during the time clubs were having tryouts. I was the captain of my school's team for the past season but wasn't picked this year. Positions I played are opposite, DS, outside hitter, and libero these past seasons. I am not as skilled as others who have been playing volleyball longer than me, but I'm willing to try my hardest on the court to stay on the court. Academics are kind of not where I want them due to hard times that caused me to go into a downfall my freshman year due to losing my brother. Entering high school and playing volleyball on my school's team made me love the sport, I never thought about playing the sport until my brother told me about it. I play the sport in memory of my brother who introduced it to me. Playing volleyball in college is a dream and goal I hope soon to come true. The negativity about my abilities, academics, and experience from my peers will only bring me down if I choose to let them. I choose not to, there's always time for growth and space to improve. I hope to grow and learn along the path I choose to keep going on in my future.

  • I've been playing with my high school's volleyball team for three years but there was a gap year due to covid.
