I am very excited to continue playing polo at the next level, whichever level that may be! I am also looking forward to continuing my education and starting my career. I am a good candidate for my next team because of my drive, my physical size, hard work and will to win as a competitor. I'm just looking for someone to give me a chance to play and I won't let my coach and program down! I come from a small town on the Central Coast of CA and from a school of under 500 total students. Our water polo teams have performed beyond expectations over my polo career and that has all been with a shallow bench where if we get into foul trouble we're in big trouble. I want to play with athletes who are better players than me, to learn and grow as a player and to see how far I can push myself. I know I can meet and exceed expectations. My ultimate goal is to play on Team USA on the National Team. I've had the pleasure of working with Tim Hutten who has shared his experiences of the National Team and playing in Italy and Europe. I definitely think I have the potential to make it to the highest level in water polo.

River Lyon wins League MVP in the PCAL for boys water polo. He finishes his high school career with PGHS record goals (270), assists (122), steals (190) and single season goals in 2023 (115). River is a natural athlete, great student and a leader. River is a competitor! He’s a pure scorer who plays solid defense and a has knack for the game and plays unselfishly and without an ego. He will excel especially surrounded by a talented team. River started playing water polo his Freshmen year on the JV team. He was playing varsity by the end of that season. His sophomore year he made Second Team All League. His Junior year he was First team a All-league and Co-Offensive Player Of The Year. Also he led his team to its first ever CCS (sectionals) post season tournament. River has 3.6 cumulative gpa and works as hard in the classroom, if not harder, than he does in the pool. As mentioned, River is a natural athlete who grew up playing baseball, basketball, volleyball, snow, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, swimming, and other sports. His freshman year he was voted “our favorite player to watch” by his high school baseball team. River has been team captain of his HS polo team for the last 2 years (and will captain them again as a senior).
