Personal Statement
Making it to the National Team Selection Camp was a big step for my water polo career as it not only showed me what I am capable of achieving, but it provided me with a new challenge of making the national team. During my 8 years of water polo experience, I feel that I grew most as a player during sophomore year when I was given a bigger role on varsity. The increase in playtime, along with playing against juniors and seniors as a sophomore, helped me grow into the player I once dreamed of becoming. As I developed my ability to shoot from the outside, I redirected my role from a utility player to an attacker. I continue to work with coaches such as Dejan Udovicic, Josh Samuels, and Pavle Filipovic to develop my powerful shot and game intelligence.
Being part of a Division 1 high school program helped me see the value of commitment, teamwork, and sacrifice. I have constantly strived to work harder and longer than any other player on any team around me. I am looking to maintain this mindset in my college career, not only in water polo, but also in my academic career. I would like to use my knowledge from the pool/training and apply it to a sports medicine or physical therapy major. I believe my unique combination and breadth of skills will allow me to be a significant contributor to any college team.
