Personal Statement
I started playing water polo when I started high school, and I immediately knew there was something different about it than any other sport I had played. After the close of my sophomore year, I was set on playing at the collegiate level. I have consistently worked on honing my skills and getting stronger in and outside of the pool in order to achieve my goal.
Academically, I have enrolled myself in AP and Honors classes since my sophomore year and I have achieved a 3.43 cumulative GPA from freshman to junior year. Outside of school I have active leadership roles such as being a retreat leader for the current freshman as well as service and mission trips down in Baltimore. These aspects of leadership carry over to the pool in ways that benefit myself as well as my teammates. I am coachable and open to suggestions on how to improve my game. I have a strong shot IQ as well as defensive IQ in the pool. I was previously a club swimmer for four years because I wanted to be able to set myself apart from other recruits. I was asked to play for the Navy AC 18u club team by their head coach so I quit my club swim team team in order to prepare for college and hone my skills to achieve my goal of playing collegiate water polo.
