Both my parents as well as my older sister played softball so I practically grew up at the diamonds. At the age of 5, I decided that I was done watching and wanted to join in on the action. It wasn’t long after that I fell in love with the game itself and now, the mental and physical challenges it poses.
I took on catching as my main position when I was 9 - but it wasn’t until the past two years that I really understood how pivotal a catcher can be to the success of a team. Since understanding that, my passion for catching has increased! I love playing the position that allows me to be a part of every play, and receive every pitch. A big part of catching is being a leader, and I feel I play that role well. Every year one of my goals is to help push our team to the Championship.
I want to play ball at a collegiate level and to do that, I know I have to learn more and continue to practice hard. In order to be a better player, during the winter months I play on a competitive Canadian team that travels to the USA for tournaments. I have played on this team for the past 2 years which has permitted me to play softball year-round in Canada, plus has allowed me to have exposure to higher-level coaching.
