Personal Statement
Over the course of eighteen years my personal goals and ambitions have changed multiple times. However, one has remained constant; To pitch at the highest level. My hero as a child was Randy Johnson (MLB pitcher). He had many good qualities but the one that stood out with him was speed. That man can throw fast!
Every pitcher has their one outstanding characteristic. Some are fast, good fielders on the mound, some have movement, etc. Mine is endurance. I can pitch forever and have found that I actually get stronger the more I throw. Tired, sweaty, and under pressure, I'm at my best. Another personal strength on the mound is placement. My personal pitching trainer, Dave Miller, says that one of my biggest assets is location/ being able to hit my spots. I throw five pitches (fastball, drop, rise, screw, changeup).
I believe attitude is very important as a pitcher because the team looks up to you. Likewise, if the pitcher is flustered and it shows, the team starts to lose confidence. The head coach of Showlow High School varsity team 2009 told me that I have the best attitude of all the pitchers he has seen. I was honored because his team kicked our butts (haha). At the end of the 2009 varsity season, I had pitched every game including tournaments. The 2 games that I did not start, I played first base and came in to close. I was nominated to the 2nd team all-region and received honorable mention. In 2010, I made 1st team, honorable mention, and was again, the captain and starting pitcher for my varsity team. Directly after my senior year, I headed out to Italy, where I played with the North American Prospects who had recruited me by e-mail to play with 16 American girls from all over in an international tournament in Tuscany. We took 2nd place.
Outside of softball, I sing, play guitar and piano, write, read, and exercise. I'm very dedicated and loyal to everything I do. As of now, I play for Patten University and work as a personal trainer in between classes.
