When I was young my Mom signed me up for every sport in the rec center catalogue; at age 9 I tried softball and immediately knew I had discovered my passion. I played recreational level for two seasons and was driven to pursue 'A' ball at age 11. As a player, my strength is in my fielding. I can throw on line from the field to each base and home plate. Diving is my specialty and I can be counted on to do what it takes to make the catch. I use Blast software to hit balls outside of scheduled practice time and I strive to continue improving my hitting technique using regular feedback from my coaches. As a teammate, I aim to lead by example and motivate through energy and enthusiasm. People tell me they hear me communicating, cheering, and laughing from my spot in the outfield or in the dugout. My athletic achievements include the 2019 Little League Softball World Series, 2021 Canada Futures travel program, and being a 2022 B.C. Summer Games bronze medalist. I completed the Team B.C. Identification Camp for the 2025 Canada Games.
My coaches note the following:
We describe Ella as a driven player, willing to give it all she’s got for her team to compete at the highest level. Ella will go all out to make plays and have an impact on a game or her team. She brings a love for the sport that shines through in her play and her attitude on and off the field. Often one to bring a smile or a laugh from her teammates or coaches when they could use it, Ella is also a fierce competitor. - Ryan Akiyama, current travel/club coach
Ella has great arm strength and accuracy. She understands all 3 outfield positions. She is vocal and a strong communicator. She has good contact rate and bat path, she is able to move runners and execute under pressure. - John Reynen, previous travel/club coach
I've wanted to play fastball at the collegiate level since the first time I stepped foot on the diamond. I am aware that the opportunity to play college sports is one-of-a-kind and has the potential to greatly impact my life. I put a lot of effort into my education and pride myself on maintaining a respectable GPA. My academic interests include pre-law, medicine, and business. Although outfielders aren't always front and center, I can assure you that I don't stop moving and am always ready to make the next catch, long-throw, or hard in to cover. I strive to be one of the most dedicated and funniest recruits you will encounter.
