Gabrielle Garcia '13 Recruiting Profile

My name is Gabrielle Garcia. I am currently a junior at Kerman High School. I am from the central valley and live in Kerman, California, I am 5'6" and weigh 126 pounds. I have been playing softball for 11 years and started off in a recreation league in my town. I played JV my freshman and sophomore years and led my team to victory with an undefeated record both years. This year, I am a varsity player. I am hardworking and ask for feedback from my fellow team mates and coaches. I have always wanted to play in college and lead by example. I am not afraid to take the inintiative to encourage others and cheer for them. I aways maintain a positive attitude and never let my teammates get down in a slump. I make sure to encourage them every chance I get. I have always wanted to go to the University of Washington since my 8th grade year. University of Washington has a few campuses in Washington. I took a big interest in University of Washington because my role model in softball, Danielle Lawrie, had attended there. She is such an inspiration to me and I really want to play at the same school as her and have a similar experience. As for staying in my state, I want to go to CSU- Fresno. Its very close to home. I want to got to CSU- Fresno because it was what I have always known as a little girl growing up. I would always watch the girls and were amazed when I watched them play. I had a dream of playing on the same field as them when I grew older. I am interested in both big and small schools. I don't really have a preferance. Division II or III is, in my opinion, a great level for myself. My family is in need of financial aid. Scholarships would be a great deal of help for myself and my family. My desired major is Business Management and Administration. My athletic goals have always been to be a starting player, play my freshman year, to get better with my skills everyday, and never show weakness physically or mentally.
