Personal Statement – Analia Lopez

My name is Analia Lopez, and I’ve been playing softball since I was three years old. Growing up in Oxnard, I learned the importance of hard work, family, and representing my community with pride. Being a third-generation Spartan at Rio Mesa High School means a lot to me, and I carry that pride onto the field every time I play.

Softball has shaped who I am today. I’m a right-handed pitcher, outfielder, and lefty hitter, and I’ve had the chance to compete at some of the highest levels, including representing Team Mexico at the 2023 WBSC World Cup in Japan and earning a silver medal at Mexico’s Conade Nationals in 2024. I will also be playing in the 2025 WBSC u18 Womens Softball World Cup in OKC, Sept 2025. Playing against some of the nation’s top athletes has taught me that success isn’t just about wins—it’s about competing hard, pushing yourself, and growing every game.

Through this sport, I’ve learned that I’m resilient and thrive in tough situations. One of my favorite memories was pitching against a top 18U team, Athletics Mercado. We lost 4–1, but I hit a home run that game and proves that I can compete with some of the best athletes.  I've been playing in the 18u Division since I was 14 - I am pushed and challenged every game. I feel it makes me a tougher competitor. 

In school, I’m working toward building strong study habits that will prepare me for college. My goal is to find a school where I can grow as both a student and an athlete, and where I’ll be pushed to reach my full potential.

What makes me unique is that I’m competitive but also love giving back—I work with younger pitchers in my community to help them develop their skills and confidence. This sport has given me so much, and I want to keep paying that forward. I enjoy spending the time with the younger players and encouraging them to keep working toward their own goals.
