My name is Kailyn Castle and I love softball. I play 3 sports, basketball, volleyball and softball, but softball is #1! My GPA is 4.0 , I attend Porterville Believers Church and I was very active in my Junior High (Sequoia Middle School) student government as well as participating in 4 sports my 8th grade year (Basketball, Volleyball, Softball and Track). I pitched for my softball team and we won the Section Championship. The track coach talked me into doing some events when it didn't conflict with softball and I set the shotput school record and set the school record for the 400 meters. I am a Freshman at Monache High School now and I start for our Varsity Softball Team. I was the co-captain of both the JV Volleyball and Basketball team's and my coach gave me the outstanding player award for basketball. Our Monache Softball team is the reigning Central Section Champions with 6 returning starters, so we have the opportunity to repeat as Champions if we work hard and things go our way.
I love all kinds of animals but dogs and cats are my favorites (we have 2 dogs and 5 cats). Pismo Beach and Manhattan Beach are my favorite places to spend time when my family has time to travel. But mostly we travel to my softball tournaments in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sacramento and sometimes locally in Central California but we usually go to L.A to play against top teams from down there. I would like to play college softball in California, but I'm 14 and I might change my mind.
What makes me different...I am driven to be the best. I LOVE to hit a softball hard and I work at it a lot with my hitting coach and at home. I led my (PGF National Championship qualified) team summer and fall of 2016 with a combined .569 batting average, led my team in on base percentage and RBI's along with 4 (over the fence) home runs. My hitting coach has helped me get my exit velocity up to 71 MPH and he says there is still room to improve. I also love playing outfield, running, catching balls, throwing out runners who think they can take the next base on me.
