Personal Statement
I am an outfielder from Upland, California. I graduate in the year 2021 and play on the varsity team at Upland High school. Softball has been a big part of my life, and it's made me into the person I am today. I love softball because it implements a sense of being apart of a team, while also facing many physical and mental challenges independently. Softball has helped me develop a strong work ethic that has benefitted my scholastic career as well as my personal life. My academic excellence has helped my thought process when evaluating successes and failures. I have learned to not dwell on my failures or pride myself too much on my success, but rather to incorporate my experiences to better myself.
I am looking for a college that will support me academically as well as on the field. Criminal Justice and Law really interest me and my intentions to make the world a better place. I've always liked helping others too, that's why I would like to aid in the Justice System. Financial need will play a large role in what college I will attend. I am willing to travel further distances depending on the expense.
Sports has taught me countless of lessons. I have failed many times over. Sports has taught me that failure is only a true failure if you don’t learn from mistakes. At the end of the day I am a better hitter, runner, fielder, and teammate because I learn and adapt. The exciting thing is that this philosophy is not limited to sports…It is life! This perspective has also benefitted the way in which I approach my academic opportunities. I have learned to not let a bad grade affect my overall mentality. Grades have always been my first priority. My hard work and dedication make my personality one to be very infectious and likable. I have very strong morals that will bring leadership, respect, and responsibility to your University.
