My name is AnnaMaria Corona and I am Junior in High School. I eat, sleep and breathe softball! I work hard every single day to improve my game and my academics because playing college ball is my ultimate goal. I am supported and inspired by my large family. I am especially motivated by my older sister Alina Bella, she is 16 and has Autism and Severe Mental Retardation. Alina has to work 10 times harden than I do, just to get through the day. Because of her I will never take my talents, skills or opportunities for granted.
I just hit my first home run and I am confident that it is the first of many. My coaches describe me as a leader and the hardest working player on the team. I don't care if my team is down by 10 ten runs, I will not give up and I always work hard to encourage my teammates to do their best. I am also a leader in the classroom and work hard to earn the best grades I can. I make no excuses for my shortcoming and I strive daily to improve on every level.
I recently decided that I want to major in Journalism/Communications is college. I am currently taking my 5th semester of Journalism and have added yearbook and creative writing to my class schedule to further develop my skills. I am also working on my school newspaper for the third year and plan to intern for my city's local newspaper in the Spring as well as take my first college class to get a jump start on college and earn honors points towards my high school GPA. I enjoy writing about student athletes and sporting events. Last Fall I wrote an article about my special needs sister Alina being invited to cheer at a Varsity Football game. It was not only published in our school newspaper but also on the front page of my city's local newspaper.
I can assure you that I take my future very seriously and I WILL reach my goals!
