Hi Coach! My name is Maia Lopez I play for the Somerset Academy Canyons Varsity softball team. I also play for our girls weightlifting team. Honestly, my goal in life is to try my hardest in everything that is thrown my way. I engage myself in many different activities to test my own limits. Along with this, I'm dedicated to everything I do and have a strong work ethic. I received MVP, MIP and star player awards in each of my mentioned sports and I am very engaged with my high school career. What makes me a good candidate for your team is my versatility since I play multiple positions and if I need assistance in one I will never hesitate to ask. I believe and have been told I'm very coachable and very passionate about my sport. I have high academic performance for my age and I always make sure that I'm active and busy, no matter the activity. What makes me different from other recruits isn't necessarily something big or heroic. I take honors, AP, AICE and college classes to put myself ahead academically and play two variation sports but I'm also a huge team player. I have been known to put my team above the sport itself, which is definitely a weakness of mine, but I have always been fascinated with the sport. My dad and uncle played baseball their entire lives so I have been surrounded with this sport since I was born. My dad was a yankee recruit and played baseball/ softball on and off after I was born. Along with this, I have had many different coaches that always average with the same answer when asked how I am as a player: I am not the best but I work extremely hard and constantly take criticism into account. My character has always been a huge part in my career. Whether it's sports, my job, academics or friends/family. I am always kind, trusting and put others ahead of myself, especially in sports training. I definitely mentioned a lot about myself in this personal statement but I wouldn't be the player and person I am without my softball team and my family to surround me.
