Madeline Peterson '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello!

I have been playing softball since I was five years old, it has always been my passion. I love competing, being part of a team sport and being able to make friendships and memories with my teammates that will last a lifetime. I started playing competitively when I was 9 years old and have been on the same travel team since then, it is my second family. I grew up trying all sports, cross country, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and softball. I enjoy being a multi-sport athlete and have continued to play high school volleyball, but my first love remains with softball. 

I was one of only two freshmen to make the varsity team at Lake City High School (Idaho 6A) last year, starting at first base and batting fifth. My sophomore year, I was initially the second pitcher, behind the senior pitcher. I quickly earned the starting pitcher position based on my performance and reached one hundred strikeouts, in eighteen games. 

I am a leader on my travel team and have been since I started. I lead by example, but also by being positive and encouraging to my teammates. I usually lose my voice after a weekend tournament, cheering on my team. I am truly fortunate that my coaches have always taught us the fundamentals, and we repeat them every practice.  This allows me to make quick decisions during game situations, without overthinking things. 

I am a strong student-athlete, always balancing my academic workload with my athletic commitments. I am excited to continue my academic career, while at the same time fulfilling my dream of playing college softball.
