Emily Zavala '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Emily Zavala. I am going into my senior year at Kuna high school in Idaho. 

I have been playing softball since I was 12 years old. I currently play for my high school team and was a starter on varsity as a freshman, thus making me a varsity starter for 3 high school seasons. I have been playing year-round for the last 5 years. I love to compete and am a team player. Having a positive attitude on and off the field is also important to me. When I was 8 years old, I was diagnosed with a learning disability and was placed on an IEP plan.  Being on the field gives me an outlet from the struggles I face not only in my education but mentally as well. With my disability, I feel like an outsider but I never feel that way on the field. I want to play college ball because I  don't want my love for the sport and abilities I have to end after high school. After high school, my plan is to follow an art program. My love for art has always been in my life, painting, drawing, etc. Like softball, it gives me an outlet to focus on something else, it allows me to put whatever I am feeling or thinking about into a project.
