Abigail Helmholz '27 Recruiting Profile

I refuse to get "out-worked" by my peers. If I make mistakes on the field it is never due to lack of effort. I pride myself on working hard for my teammates and coaches. I am never a selfish player & pride myself on supporting my teammates at all times. Things I love - off of the field: Fishing! Art. Specifically drawing and some painting. Reading/writing books. If I'm not working on softball skills or playing I am most likely to be drawing something or writing. Things different about me: I was adopted at birth. I am 1/2 Native American. I've always loved trying to invent/create new things. My parents say "give her a roll of duct tape, some cardboard, and a few odds and ends - that kid can build anything!" I consider myself to be socially awkward, but I am always kind and empathetic. I am a Christian and attended a Christian School K-8th grade. As a freshman I transferred to Lakeland High School. I was fortunate enough to start varsity as a freshman. My teammates were amazing and so supportive. At the end of the season I received an award as "newcomer of the year"! I am really looking forward to my sophomore season & working more on being a leader in my 2nd year. I've practiced with High School softball players since I was 9 years old, so I understand the importance of embracing younger players and helping them improve and be confident.
