Jessica Taylor '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jessica Taylor and I just graduated from Saint Viator High School. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and have been on the B Honor Roll every semester.

I started playing softball in the 3rd grade and knew right away that it was something that I loved and wanted to do throughout my life. I was on a travel team in the 5th grade, and at my first at-bat, I struck out and walked off the field crying. I remember thinking how could I ever pursue this sport if I cannot even get my bat on the ball?

In 6th grade, I started watching all the televised college games and the College World Series, and as my love of the game grew, so did my determination to play college softball.

I have played on five travel teams, Arlington Hurricanes 12U, Arlington Redbirds 12U, Arlington Patriots 14U,  Arlington Vipers 16u. Every season I worked hard to get myself to where I needed to be to play at the higher levels. I am currently on the Arlington Vipers 18U travel team, and my high school's varsity team.

My favorite position is pitcher, but also excel at first base.

As a freshman, I was the starting pitcher for our junior varsity team, and was often asked to play varsity games. As a sophomore, I was one of three pitchers on our varsity team, and earned good playing time. During my junior year, our team made it to the Elite 8 in state. I lost 4 weeks of my senior year, due to a dislocated knee, but work hard to make it back for the final four games of the year.

I pride myself in being a team leader, and a dedicated member of my teams. Playing softball in college with dedicated teammates who have the same drive and dreams as me is one of my goals.

Academics come first to me however, and my dream is to study psychology.
