Megan Maruna '19 Recruiting Profile

    Growing up in my family, sports has always been a huge part of my life. My Grandpa, Dad, and brother all played baseball as a kid as well as throughout high school. Like every young kid I played a bunch of different sports to start out with. But softball was that one sport that I could never let go of. From the very beginning I have had a passion for this game like no other. Through this sport I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership, all which have shaped the type of person I am today.

    If my coaches were to describe me they would say that I am very coachable. I am willing to go outside of my comfort zone and set aside what I believe is "right" to listen to what they might have to offer me. I am always open to trying new things, even if it feels strange and unusual, to become a better athlete. I believe that this is one of the most important traits an athlete can have. I believe that I not only have the skills and traits of being a college athlete but also the academics of one. Being able to maintain a 4.3 out of 4 GPA while being a student athlete says a lot on my character and work ethic. It is definitely not easy managing both but I know that I could never be a college athlete without my strong academics. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically.
