Personal Statement
My name is Shailee Woods from Moran, KS and my interest in playing softball for a university/ college. I play on my high school team and I consider myself great athlete, I help those in need of needed more help with batting, pitching, and try to help them push me as I push them to get better.
As a student, I am very smart, I take my work and extra curricular activities seriously. I currently have a 3.43 GPA I plan on taking the ACT in October. My goal is 28. I also play in Basketball, have played in volleyball my freshman year, Football Manger for one year , I did FFA for two years, FCCLA for One year, Chorus for one year, Math relays for three years. In basketball I am very aggressive I work hard and try to make myself better than I was the year before, over the summer of 2015 I did a basketball camp that was provide for those who wanted to attend and also a summer basketball. doing this it made me better and I want to improve more before my senior year. Volleyball I didn't continue on with it because it wasn't a sport for me, but I am really good at it. The Pittsburg State University Early Childhood Unified Program results in a general and special education teaching license for programs serving children Birth through Grade 3. The program focuses on hands-on experience in Pre-K and primary grade classrooms working with general education students and students with special needs.
The Career options: By completing the Early Childhood Unified program, you will earn a Birth through Grade 3 teaching license. With this license, you can work in any of the following roles:
- Special Education Teacher of Pre-K
- Special Education Teacher of Kindergarten through Grade 3
- General Education Teacher of Pre-K through Grade 3
The Internships and research opportunities that are available as an Early Childhood Unified major, you will have learning opportunities in the PSU Little Gorillas Preschool and other area Early Childhood programs. You will also get to complete a student teaching semester in general education in area schools. In addition, you may choose to pursue one of our international internships or student teaching opportunities, including a 5-week program in Australia. After graduation, you can continue to work with the faculty you know and earn an online graduate degree in Leadership, Reading, Library Media, Educational Technology, ESOL, or Teaching without ever leaving home.
