My name is Maya Stone, and I appreciate you reviewing my profile! I'm a strong student, a committed athlete, and a great teammate. I was inducted into the National Honor Society in my sophomore year due to my academic performance, volunteerism in my community, and strong character demonstrated through athletics and in the classroom.
I am interested in studying Business and potentially something in Sports Management. I've been playing multiple sports from a young age: softball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse, to name a few. Softball is my passion, the sport I commit the most to, and the one I hope to play in college. I am a two-sport Varsity athlete in high school. I am the starting left back on my Varsity soccer team, where we have earned Maine State Northern Class A Runners-Up two years in a row. In softball, I have started and played in every inning of every game in my high school career, either as a pitcher or on first base. I've been playing club softball since I was ten for the same organization, Maine Thunder, out of Portland, Maine. I travel two hours each way to play for this organization because of the excellent coaching and support I've had over the years. I am committed and gritty, and I work through tough spots with consistent effort and a good attitude.
I'm a positive and supportive teammate, always one of the most consistent cheerleaders in the dugout and on the field. On the mound, I am steady and work hard to get my job done well, while still supporting my team. When I'm not pitching, I love playing first base. Some people might think 5'5" isn't tall enough for first, but my stats say I get the job done! I'm flexible and aggressive, and I appreciate the opportunity to contribute in more than one position. I have great game sense and knowledge, which helps me be smart and adaptable, always thinking about the next play on the field. I began playing tee-ball at four and spent a lot of time watching my older sister play ahead of me and being in the dugout watching games before I was age-eligible, as my mom was coaching some of these teams. Both my high school and travel coaches can vouch for my softball knowledge and how quick I am to seek that extra out or grab that extra base when I'm running. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to play the game I love while in college with a team I'm proud to be a part of!
