Addison McCarty '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Addison McCarty. My goals are to continue my athletic and academic careers at a college where softball is played at a high competitive level and the academics are also high. I am a two-sport athlete and want to play both softball and soccer in college. I am actively working on recruitment for both sports and hope that I can find a program that values me for both.  

I attend Danvers High School in Danvers MA. Although I was not selected for Varsity my freshman season, I was called up and played in more varsity games than JV. While it was disappointing to make the team I found that it made me want to work harder to achieve that goal next season. UPDATE: I was selected as the starting shortstop for the Varsity team for my sophomore year!

Playing collegiate softball has been only a thought of mine for a couple of years. I have always tried to play at the highest level and playing in college would be that next step. The main attributes that contribute to my gameplay are my strength and speed. I am 5’ 10” and very fast. I’ve been told I have a very high softball IQ and know where the play needs to be made given the situation. While shortstop is my favorite position, I’ve played at every position on the field with success. 

Besides sports, I am also looking to go to a great school for academics. At the moment I would have to say that my best subjects are math and science and I love both. They allow me to use my problem-solving skills which is something that I love to do. My bigger passion is science. I love how to know how things work in the world and how things are made in our day-to-day lives. I am an honors student and strive to get A’s in every subject. I want to continue my softball career in college and am looking for a school that offers a challenging program both academically and athletically.
