My name is Cate Welch. I’m a senior at North Branch High School. Volleyball is like a religion in North Branch. Our high school program has been very successful due to a very talented coaching staff. We’ve won 18 consecutive District titles and four Division 2 state championships, including last year with the team I was on. I have been a part of this program since 4th grade, and I have been practicing and/or competing with the varsity team since 7th grade. I also enjoy playing basketball and softball, and I’m an avid outdoor person and reader. Academically, I love English and History, and I’ve wanted to go to law school since I was 11 years old. My mother and two of my aunts went to the University of Michigan, so I have always been pushed to work hard and be the best that I can be in the classroom. I’m ranked 11th in my class, with a GPA of 3.99. I am a very passionate person, and I’m a very hard worker. I’ve been called a gamer by several of my coaches because of my highly competitive spirit. My goal is to play volleyball at a college with a highly ranked English program, and then attend a top rated law school.
