Mackenzie Nelson '24 Recruiting Profile

Sports have always been an influential part of my life. In grade school I played soccer, basketball, and softball. Once I started middle school, I decided to strictly stick to softball. Softball has always been my favorite. I have been playing softball since kindergarten. When I was in 3rd grade I began playing club ball. I loved it from the moment I stepped on the field. 

Some things that make me a great pitcher are that I am always trying to get better. Whether it’s getting my speed up or gaining strength. I would consider myself a student of the game. I get smarter with every pitch, hit, and ground ball. This past high school season, I was considered the third pitcher, behind 2 seniors. I pitched in 3 games. I ended the season pitching 7 innings with 1 win and 0 losses. I also had a 6.0 ERA. From a hitting standpoint, I finished the season with a .273 batting average and a .304 OBP. In the fall season with my club team, I finished 40.1 innings with 4 wins and 2 losses. I had 37 strikeouts and a 3.298 ERA. From a hitting standpoint, I finished with a .409 batting average. My OBP was also .409 and my SLG was .545. I am very excited to play many more seasons with club and high school ball. I know I haven’t yet reached my full potential as a pitcher or a hitter. I will continue working as hard as I can to make sure I can be the best player I can be. 

I am looking for a college that is a great fit for my academic goals and my athletic goals. I'm also looking for a college with an outstanding pre-med program. 

What makes me an ideal candidate for your college softball program is that I am a hardworking and dedicated softball player.
