My name is Sikoya Richard and currently attend West Platte High School as a senior. I have played softball since T-Ball, and every since then the love for the diamond has not left me. Before high school ball, I played recreational softball every summer playing mainly catcher or some outfield. This year was my second year starting varsity, positioned at catcher. As lead off hitter, my junior year, I had 0.317 batting average, and lead the team with 19 hits, had 10 stolen bases, 5 RBI and 4 extra base hits within the 115 innings played. At the end of the season I had the highest batting average and tied for the most stolen bases. This year I received the honor of 2nd Team District Catcher. I stay active throughout the year with camps, weightlifting and conditioning to improve my strength. I enjoy running Track in the spring as well to stay active. I run the 800M, 4x400M and 4x800M. I was a state qualifier in these events as long as placing 2nd and 3rd in the 4x800M. *See my additional sports for awards.
Academically, I maintain a 3.91 grade point average and involved in numerous extracurricular activities. I am involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and participate in Good Friday and any volunteering opportunities. I additionally take part in Student Council since seventh grade and went to state convention 2/4 years I have qualified. I am currently a part of the executive council as Publishing Secretary. FFA, FCCLA, NHS, and Science Club are other clubs I take part in. Another extracurricular activity is Girl Scouts, I have lead meetings, organized events and camps for Service Unit 601. I am currently in the A+ Program and on a four year high school plan. I am currently or have taken the following classes: College Algebra/Trigonometry and Calculus, and AP Language/Composition, Western Civilization, and Chemistry III as dual credit classes.
