Personal Statement

It would be a true blessing to take my God-given talents to the collegiate level. I haven’t always been the girl who dreams of playing in college. But something changed for me when I had softball taken away from me a year ago due to an injury, and at first, I didn’t know what my value in life was outside of softball. Everyone told me that I had to figure out how to live without softball. Through that year of recovery, I was able to find God and build a relationship with him. I was able to build a better relationship with myself and those around me. It forced me to take time off and look at the bigger picture of my life. And although I saw that I could have a life without softball, the time made me realize I didn’t want to. I believe that I was meant to play this sport.

Outside of softball, I play basketball, track, and trap. I am also involved in Future Business Leaders of America, Show Choir, Choir, Musical, National Honor Society, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I have been honored to be on the Principal’s Honor Roll every year of high school. I have an amazing support system everywhere I go. I have my parents and one wonderful sister. I have also found many friends who will stick by my side through everything. I am Aurora Softball's Varsity team captain. I have gone through many ups and downs in my life, and dealing with those situations has made me a better ball player. I can now adapt to any situation and get a good outcome. I am very communicative, kind, passionate, and selfless. These attributes have helped shape me into the leader I am today.

My wish for after high school is to continue my education and to play at the next level.

God bless,

Sydney Thomas
