Kelsey Christensen '12 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Kelsey Christensen. This upcoming high school season will be my fourth year as the starting varsity catcher and three-hole hitter for Hastings High Scool. Outside of high school softball I play for a select organization called TEAM Nebraska. This organization is an elite program that is run out of the Omaha area, which resides two and a half hours from where I live. As a catcher, I believe it is my job to be the leader on and off the field. During games and in practice, I strive to communicate with my teammates no matter what the situation. I have been the captain of my high school softball team since I was a sophomore. In my eyes, being a leader is leading by example and that is one of my best qualities on and off the field. I strive for perfection on the field and in the classroom. Ever since I was a little girl, I fell in love with the game of softball. It has been my dream to play at the college level. There is always a moment in every game where I fall in love with the sport all over again. At that moment, I realize how much I love what I'm doing and that feeling is indescribable. It is my hope that in watching me practice and play, you will see that love of the game and the drive that pushes me farther each and every day. I'd love to play softball at a school that is extremely academically focused. I currently hold the number one rank for my class and hold a 4.44 GPA. My academic life is very important to me. I hope to attend a school with goals similar to mine in academic excellence. I am open to all regions of the country to play. I would especially love a school that is more northern, or prone to colder weather. I would favor a school with a larger population size, though I would be interested in smaller colleges as well. Overall, I am extremely open-minded to any type of school and would love to hear from many different schools.
