Donna Valdez '18 Recruiting Profile

 My aspirations for long term is to find a college where I can reach my fullest softball potential where I can be a great positive role model to my team & school, and also my family. I want to be able to contribute to the and the college my athletic skills positively.  My goal is to be the first female in my family to graduate high school and go on to college. I plan to pursue a career in Health Sciences, i want to become a successful pediatrician. Softball to me is my heart and passion and I will always give coaches, teammates, teachers, and school my 110% effort in the classroom, practices, and games. I put my all into softball, I love the game and always will. I see softball as my escape from the world. When I step up to the plate, it is just me, my bat, and my father looking over me. Something that makes me a good candidate for their teams is that I am very dedicated and determined. I know the game like the palm of my hand. I am very athletic. I may be big and tall but I still have running speed. (When I am on base, my teammates would yell at me,"YEAAAHHHH DONNA LIGHTING SPEED"). Knowing that my team counts on me and motivates me, warms my heart and increases the love that I have for the game.  I play multiple positions; 1st base, 3rd Base, Sometimes pitching, and right-field. What makes me different from other recruits in character is that I can illustrate leadership, and positive attitude. In athletics, I am very competitive. It's not that I consider myself better than others, but I want to work harder than others and show that I am able to do what I can and be satisfied at doing it. I also show great sportsmanship towards my teammates, always giving advice, and keeping them alive during games and practices. I also am able to maintain discipline wherever I go, I keep myself together in games and outside of games. In academics, I may fall off sometimes and get distracted, but I do get back on track. After all i do have to be a student before an athlete. Then there would not be any point in " Student-Athlete". Out of everything I want to gain wisdom and be proud of myself when I look back 10-15 years from and say "Look how far I have gotten".
