So far, the highlights of my high school career are leading my team to two playoff victories as a freshman catcher and winning All-Section Honorable Mention. However, my goal for next year is to win the Section for the first time in my schools history. As a freshman, I was the only catcher in our high school program so there was a certain responsibility and leadership role that I assumed on and off the field. During games I was responsible for communicating with my team about plays. While in the dugout, I worked on motivating them. As one of the varsity team leaders, I learned the importance of hard work. Over the season I worked on making my swing more consistent and I led the team with a .500 batting average at the end of the season. A leader is someone who leads by example. I knew that if I wanted my teammates to work hard I had to show them how.
From my years of competition at the high school and travel level, I have learned the value of perseverance and hard work. These lessons apply to softball and school. My schoolwork is important and I worked hard to finish freshman year with a GPA of 94%. I am looking for a college that can provide an academic and athletic challenge and makes me work hard to achieve my goals. I’m confident in my ability to be a leader and difference maker on any team at the next level.
