Ashley Tanevski '19 Recruiting Profile

I am an extremely hard working and dedicated student-athlete. As a softball player, I have been the captain of my team for several years due to my evident passion, leadership, and pure dedication to the sport. I work extremely hard to not only improve my individual skills, but to also improve my teammate’s skills as well. I am a very vocal person which shows on and off the field. During practices and games I often give advice to my teammates in order to fix a mechanic or mentally help them improve. I believe that it is extremely important for a team to help and learn from each other in order to gain more knowledge and to flourish throughout the season. As an individual player, I have learned and practiced many skills that make me unpredictable to the opposing team. For example, I am able to hit for power, hit gaps, bunt, pull back and swing, drag bunt from the right and left side, and slap from the right and left side. I personally believe that it is important to learn multiple offensive skills in order to gain more knowledge about the sport of softball and to also become the most effective batter possible. Defensively, I am an extremely aggressive player. As a catcher, I am quick on my feet and on my knees and am not afraid to throw to a base when necessary. As a third baseman and outfielder, I am always hustling for the ball and am always vocal in order to avoid collisions and errors. All around, I am a hard working athlete who is not satisfied with average performances and who constantly works on and off the field in order to fulfill my potential and my team’s potential. 

As a student, I am also extremely hard working and devoted to my work. In the classroom, I continuously push myself in order to fully understand topics and stay engaged in class. For example, I participate and often stay after school in order to do extra work and ask further questions about specific topics. Throughout middle school and high school, I have had many academic achievements due to my hard work. These achievements include perfect attendance almost every year, honor role awards, individual class awards, a nomination into the Spanish National Honors Society, and a nomination into the regular academic National Honors Society. I believe that wanting more academic knowledge is extremely important for success and teaches you to work hard and earn your achievements.
