Personal Statement

I started playing softball in little league when I was eleven years old which was a little late compared to my friends.  I grew to love the game and started playing travel ball when I was twelve.  I consider myself a very good athlete, but I knew I was behind with my softball skills.  I am a competitor and will do whatever it takes to be the best I can be, especially when someone tells me I can't.  Once I decided to play travel ball I worked non-stop throughout the summers and off-season to make up for the late start with the sport.  I now play up in travel ball and have played varsity softball as a starter since I was in eighth grade.  I proved to myself that by not only working hard but working harder than your competition can get you places you only dreamed about.  I believe in hard work and making sacrifices to improve my skills and challenge myself on the softball field and in the classroom.  I am currently a senior at Our Lady of Mercy high school, I transferred to Mercy to be challenged academically and athletically.  I am currently looking for a college that will provide the same academic and athletic challenge as Mercy has done for me in high school.  I set my goals high and I consider any bumps along the way another challenge to work harder in order to reach my goals.

Training

  • Private Hitting coach
  • 6 years
  • Aside from working with my personal hitting coach I have a net in my heated garage where I do tee work year around unless I can get outside where I will hit soft toss and off my pitching machine. I also go to my hitting coach's training facility and am able to use the pitching machines on my own in the winter when they are not being used for lessons.
  • Fore Performance
  • 4 years
  • I train at Fore Performance twice a week in season and four to five times a week out of season for two hours. While I am there, I work on strength training with a personal trainer for one hour and I do speed training with a small group for another hour. I also work with my personal trainer on softball related skills after my speed and strength workouts
  • Fielding/Slapping
  • 1 year
  • I work with John Valle who is a former professional baseball player along with a good friend who is a D1 softball player on fielding, throwing and slapping.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
