Haley Johnson '24 Recruiting Profile

I started playing softball when I was 4 years old.  I was the youngest, smallest, and very shy.  Practices leading up to my first game I wouldn’t step on the field without my Mom or Dad.  Then came my first game and I ran to the pitchers circle without hesitation and felt right at home.  I have been in LOVE with the game ever since!  Softball has also formed a close relationship between me and my parents (they both played) and it’s a great way for us to bond.

Sports have taught me so much including mental toughness.  I’ve developed mental toughness from being a pitcher and having opposing parents, opposing coaches, opposing players yelling, umpires making calls you don’t agree with, and high-pressure situations.  Travel softball has given me the opportunity to meet friends outside of the state of Ohio not just my little hometown.  I’m a great teammate that knows its not just about me and how I do on the field, its about how my team does.  I’ve been a team captain on my school basketball team for the past two years and learned a lot about leadership and communication.

One of my proudest moments in softball was when my team won the 2019 NSA SE World Series in Clearwater Florida…and I went 4-0 as a pitcher!
