Personal Statement
I Dream BIG!
My name is Dayna Denner and I am a student athlete. My life-long dream is to obtain a college education and play highly competitive collegiate level softball! Softball is my passion in life. The hard work, training, commitment, and friendships that come with playing softball are invaluable.
As a H.S sophomore, I led my high school team (Cuyahoga Heights Redskins) to victory in the Ohio Division IV State Championship Game! Winning the State Softball Championship trophy was a huge accomplishment my team and for my school since it was the 1st State Championship in any sport for our High School. Our goal was to return to the State Championship game and to successfully defend our Championship! As a junior, my team battled its way back to the State Softball Championships and we lost a hard fought Semi-Final game 2-1 which ended our season 28-4. In our State Tournament games I batted 6-9 (.666 AVG. with 1.357 SLG.) with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 4 runs scored and 3 RBI’s and 2 walks.
During my junior year, I dedicated myself to on weight strength training and conditioning. My hard work has increased my core strength and speed. My off-season softball training has fine-tuned my hitting techniques, which has allowed me to join various OHSAA State Softball records lists and to establish several new H.S. performance records (statistics link). This year I have been selected to the OHSAA Underclass North East Ohio District tournament team and have been selected for an opportunity to try out for an All-Ohio All-Star team that will compete against the USA Junior National Team.
I am an intense competitor between the lines and a fun loving team mate who keeps everyone loose before the game. I do love to WIN! My next big decision in my life will be choosing a college to further my education and to continue playing the game that I love. My goal is to find the perfect school for me that is offering my academic major and a softball opportunity where I can truly make a difference. My education is very important to me and I want to be a part of a winning softball organization. If I can do both, then it would be a dream come true. I will welcome your opportunity!
