Hi my name is Mackenzie Riley. I play volleyball, basketball, and softball at Fairland High School in Proctorville, Ohio where I will graduate in 2015. I work hard and push myself to excel in and out of the classroom. As a member of my school's National Honor Society, I enjoy working together to help others as a participant in many community volunteer activities. That is why I enjoy and love softball more than any other sport. I hope and aspire to continue playing softball at the collegiate level.
I started playing softball at the age of 7. I began as a catcher for the first 3 years when I discovered ASA. I played for the West Virginia Dusters 10u and 11u teams in consecutive years where I became a shortstop. I continued at this position every summer. My freshman year of high school I started as the right fielder and fell in love with the outfield. As a freshman, I led my varsity high school team in batting with a .469 average with 10 doubles, 3 triples, and 1 homerun on an 18 & 8 team. My sophomore year I struggled with my hitting. I am determined to prove myself this year as well as next year to show my full potential. I started at shortstop my sophomore year until an injured senior returned and now I currently hold the position for my junior season. I consider myself a knowledgeable player on multiple aspects of softball including defense and base running. I consider myself a strong hitter despite my slump last year. I plan to play softball this summer with the West Virginia Lady Aces 18u team out of Barboursville, WV.
I continually strive to become a better player and enjoy working on my skill. I am a good listener and sincere in my practice. I am a hardworking student athlete that believes in pushing to make the best of myself in the classroom and on the softball field. I hope to continue my softball career at a college or university that has these mutual standards. Thank you for looking at my profile and considering me for your team.
