November 2014I have played softball for 9 years of my life. These past years have taught me a lot about the importance of commitment, collaboration, and selflessness. When playing on a competitive team, I have learned that I do not come first. Rather it is the team and my teammates who I must put ahead of me and do my best for them. For 3 years I was voted captain of my team by my teammates and this did nothing but drive these lessons in. It has taught me how to be a leader both in the mental and physical aspects of the game. It has helped me to perfect how to keep my emotions in check and constantly strive to improve my skills as I know I have teammates looking to me to lead them.
Playing at a competitive level of softball also helped me to be a leader in my education. It has given me a strong work-ethic and the drive to be a leader in my classroom with my marks and attitude. I plan to go into the field of engineering and am looking for the experience to play college ball. This has been a dream of mine because I want the chance to be able to continue to do my favourite thing in the world, while receiving an education and working with coaches and teammates who will help me become not only a better player, but a better person.
