I have played ball since I was 4 years old. Starting with baseball until the age of 12, where I moved to playing fastpitch softball. I wasn't always a catcher. I started by playing first base, but when I played on the All-stars team when I was 9, my coach asked who would like to try catching. Having watched my older brother catch when he played baseball, I decided to try it. For the first few years I switched from catcher to first base, but when I turned 12, catching became my sole position. I continue to play softball for my school and tried out last year for the JV team and was chosen. We did not have a season due to Covid though.
Beginning in 2019, I played for my first travel team, the Spikes, as a pickup. I was then approached by my now coach, Dave Breon, to play for his 14U team, Ultimate Edge, as a catcher. I moved up this year to 16U and plan on being a starting catcher.
During the off season, I maintain private lessons with my coach. We focus on hitting as well as catching. We also have team practices every Sunday, and as a catcher, this consists of 2 hours with the pitchers, and 2 hours with the rest of the team working on defense techniques.
During the winter, I continue to keep conditioned by playing volleyball with my school. I have played on the JV team for the past 2 years. This helps with my stamina and weight training.
When I was younger, I was on a competition cheer team called Fame All-Stars PA. I was with that program for 3 years.
I am an excellent candidate for your team because I listen to my coaches and inspire to get better with every practice and every game played.
I have a great attitude on and off the field. I encourage my teammates by keeping the atmosphere upbeat. I enjoy catching because I love to see all aspects of the game, to be the backbone of the team. I want to make sure the pitcher knows someone will be there to catch each pitch no matter where it is thrown, and every time I step onto the field I get this rush of adrenaline.
Once I finish high school, I plan on attending a college that has the opportunity for me to become a physical therapist or a radiologist.
