For as long as i can remember softball has always my favorite sport. While i played field hockey and volleyball for fun I always was involved and loved the game of softball. Throughout my childhood softball has had a huge impact on me both physically and mentally. I have learned a lot of lifelong lessons that I will carry with me forever. First and foremost being a good teammate. We all have bad games and can learn from each other, I have learned time management as well as discipline and commitment. Having your dad coach you isn't always fun but it taught me to be extremely coachable when other coaches stepped in. I always felt my dad was so much harder on me than the others and that always made me put in the extra work. As a result of playing softball, it also made me focus on my schoolwork and grades.. without good grades and being held accountable there was no softball... What kind of teammate would i be if i didn't so my school work and missed games? not a very good one.
I was blessed with many opportunities to travel the country and play softball over the years. I also had the privilege of becoming an all-American when playing in Oklahoma for team USA.
I know some kids think they miss out on a lot by being an athlete but i feel like i gained a lot.. A lot of friends, lifelong memories, countless hours with my teammates and coaches, and most of all my self-worth.
