Hello! I am Rachel Marsden from Erie Pennsylvania. I play on a travel team out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which is roughly an hour and a half from home. Since we practice twice a week, it requires me to make the journey south twice in sometimes in blizzard like conditions. I am a hard worker and committed to make practice, despite harsh weather. In college, I wish to continue to use my attributes, such as being a hard worker and a committed individual, to use all while competing competitively playing softball, studying business and earning A's and B's in the classroom. On the field, I play arguably the most competitive and gritty positions out there: pitcher and shortstop. Pitching and playing short allows me to showcase not only my leadership skills, but my competitiveness as well. However, what separates me most is my ability to play multiple different positions. Like I mentioned earlier, I pitch and play shortstop but I also have a good bat with power to all three "fields". Lastly, another thing that separates me from other players is that I have decent foot speed down the line. I might not be a Usain Bolt, but I am not a sloth either!
To improve my game, I am going to continue to work on my strength and conditioning, my movement pitches and speed, bat speed and discipline at the plate, softer hands and more range in the infield, and increase my foot speed down the line.
