Caroline Lanzi '24 Recruiting Profile

Dear coaches: thank you for taking the time to review my profile. My name is Caroline Lanzi and I am a Senior (Class of 2024) at Cumberland High School in Cumberland, RI. I have been playing organized softball since the age of 5 and joined my first travel team when I was 8 years old. In my first year of travel ball I was a catcher because I was never afraid to be behind the plate, but when the coach asked if anyone wanted to pitch,  I raised my hand. I have been on the mound ever since! I started taking pitching lessons and have been training with the same pitching coach for almost 8 years. He has taught me good mechanics, patience when learning new pitches, and the benefits of practicing to reach my goals. I have spent years on snap, spin, and placement and I can now confidently throw many different pitches at a competitive speed. I was with my first travel team for 5 years. I played in many tournaments, traveled, made lasting friendships, and fell in love with the sport. I am now playing for a travel team that is preparing me for the next level. I pitched for Varsity in my Freshman year at Cumberland High School and I was consistent in the batting order. Our team made it to the Final Four in the State Playoffs that year! I also received the Rookie of The Year award. Last year, I was the starting pitcher for the Varsity team. I also was placed in Cumberland High School's Top 10 Record for the amount of strikeouts in one season! 

I want to play softball in college while studying for a career in the medical field. I took several classes in the Biomedical Sciences Pathway at Cumberland High School and enjoy helping people. When I am not playing softball, I like to work out at the gym, I enjoy cooking and baking, playing basketball, and working my new part-time job. I was recently hired at a local restaurant. I am learning new skills such as time management, working with the public, and the value of making my own money.  In the past, I volunteered with a first year 12U travel softball team. I worked with the pitchers and helped the coaches with drills during practices.
