Mariana Vela '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Mariana Vela and I am currently a junior at Cypress Woods high school in Cypress, Tx and I play tournament softball with Illusions gold premier plocheck  18u. I want coaches to know that I love playing softball and I am willing to go wherever a opportunity opens. I have a lot of experience with softball, I started playing when I was just 4 years old and have played 2nd base since I stepped onto the field for the first time. As I got older, I have rotated and started in right field as well as center and left field. I  also have learned to play 3rd base and start on past tournament team‘s playing there.

During my freshman year of high school, I was a starting second basemen for our first scrimmages before starting the season, when the coaches thought I would be more beneficial and more helpful at shortstop on the junior varsity team. I started every game at shortstop from that point on and batted fifth in the lineup. I can execute bunts when I am told to and move people around, as well as put myself on base any way I can. I ended my freshman and sophomore year honor roll. 

I am a team player and want to do anything to help my team in anyway possible because I care so much about my teammates and I make sure to consistently encourage every single girl. I love the feeling of working on my own time knowing I am getting better for myself and my team. I hope you will consider me as a good addition.
