I started playing T-ball at the age of 4, and fell in love with catching during machine pitch at the age of 7. I am enthusiastic about being the only one facing the field, I am the one who sees it all and am responsible for communicating with my teammates. I enjoy the bonds I have with my pitchers and making them look good.
My catching coach Mari Martinez has taught me to focus on the little things and that they matter the most. When the little things come together the big picture is brighter. She has taught me to not give up when I am frustrated, but to take my frustration out on perfecting the skill. Mari doesn’t say a skill is good enough it can always be better. She has instilled in me a drive to always improve, to hold myself accountable and to always be different than everyone else.
One event that has impacted my desire to play college ball was the Colorado Sparkler Junior, summer 2018. I was selected to participate in the All-American game by my All-Star coach. This nomination was such an honor because my coach was so dedicated to our All-Star team. My time at the Sparkler brought me new friendships, showed me different methods of coaching and increased my passion for the sport. At each event, whether it was a game or a camp, I was working with all new players and coaches who shared my love for the game. I walked away from each of them smarter, more passionate and excited.
