Makayla Velasco '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coach,

My name is Makayla Velasco and a graduate of 2025.. Softball is all I do since i was 6 years old. I have not had an interest in any other sport. Growing up I played SS and 3rd which I really enjoyed. It wasn't till my High School where I really grew as an athlete and understood what it ment to be a coachable and team player. Things were hard but i didn't give up. What do I mean by this? Well my freshman year my High School really didn't have a pitcher. So I learned to pitch enough "to get us by". My Sophomore year we didn't have a 2nd/ RF so my coaches asked if I could play those positions and so I did. My Junior year we didn't have a catcher so I got some gear and am currently playing catcher. This is my last year and looking back I wouldn't have it any other way. Being able to play in multiple positions really has grown me as an athlete and appreciate every position as a player.  Moral of my story coaches I would consider myself a well rounded player ( not perfect ) but I love this sport and will do anything to help my teammates.
