Personal Statement

Good morning,

I am Isabella Murphy Sanchez and currently a senior at St Mary’s Hall High School in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout high school, I have consistently enrolled in honors and advanced placement classes with a 3.5 GPA.

I have played varsity sports during my four years in high school. Each year, I have participated as a varsity student athlete in 2-4 sports per academic year as: a soccer goalkeeper, a shot-put and discus thrower, a cheerleader, and a two-time all-district second team 3rd base softball player. If the opportunity exists, I am very interested in participating in collegiate athletics.

Through sports, athletics, and outdoors in general, I have been able to put into practice those values and virtues instilled in me from my parents, coaches, and teachers. Those values include hard work, honor, and courage; to always give 110% in all academic, athletic, and extracurricular endeavors; to never give up and to persevere, even when the odds are against you (in fact, some of my best games have been against some of the best teams); and always participate both as a team player and leader (whether mentoring and helping younger students in homework or rallying teammates during competition).

In addition to my love of sports and outdoor interests, I am a National Spanish Honor Society student, elected officer in student government (Community Service Council  – 4 years), event and guest speaker coordinator for my high school "Issues Day", one of the first young women to actively participate in Boy Scouts, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, National Hispanic Institute Team Lead, and a two-time recipient of the Gold President’s Volunteer Service award. In order to support my educational expenses, this past summer, I worked full-time as a lifeguard for the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information.

I have attached a copy of my resume at this link:  https://drive.google.com/open?id=1k_cJ21qtz5g2V10Qy2PMi6bEU4oyZhEp    for your convenience.

Sincerely,

Isabella Murphy Sanchez
