Personal Statement
Hello coaches!
My name is Jessika Jennings and I'm from Roy, WA. I am a 5'6 Pitcher, second baseman, and first baseman. I play for the AI Bandits 16U Breer Purple, and I attend Graham-Kapowsin Highschool in Graham, WA. I am a dedicated person both on and off the field. I've been playing softball since I was 7 years old and fell in love with it since the moment I stepped on the field. I loved watching the older girls on TV and aspired to be just like them. Since then, it has been my goal to play softball at a collegiate level.
Off the field and in the classroom, I maintain a 3.82 GPA, while taking honors classes. I would like to go into the United States Navy and become a Naval Aviator, after attending college. I do not know what I want to study yet, however I do know it will most pursue a STEM degree. During my freshman year, I took Honors Chemistry, and ended the school year with a 99.87%. This school year, I will continue to be a tutor to my JROTC classmates with their Chemistry, ELA, and writing classes that they are struggling in. In my free time, I will also be volunteering at Solace Equine Academy, a place that uses bonds with horses to work with veterans, first responders, and their families.
On the field, I am a very vocal, loud, and encouraging teammate. I always try to be uplifting to those around me, wanting to bring out the best in those around me. I bring a heap energy to the field and dugout, and I am very coachable and always open to try new techniques and styles. Being a pitcher and formerly a catcher helps my mindset and work ethic exponentially. I have acquired the ability the identify challenges and things I am struggling with, and then working to fix whatever it may be. I have also learned that it is okay to ask for help, however I always want to try and work out a problem myself before doing so.
Off the field, I am a total book nerd! I enjoy reading Egyptology and Egyptian mythology books, as well as fantasy novels. I also love the history channel, watching Egypt and ancient history documentaries. I also frequent my local gym, where I do weightlifting and strength training, working hard year-round trying to get better.
It is very important to me that I find a school that supports my goals for the future, academically and athletically. I am open to any and all options, but I ultimately want to find the right college match that will support my aspirations, while also allowing me to play at the highest level possible. Playing softball is a privilege and an amazing opportunity, and I am willing to do anything it takes to get to the collegiate level.
