May 2016 I plan to major in business/marketing in college. My ultimate goal is to work in marketing for the Seattle Seahawks. I love sports in general but have been passionate about softball since I was 10-years-old. I love being part of a team and working hard to achieve success with a group of like-minded individuals. I have never been the most naturally gifted athlete but I work hard and I have exceeded the expectations of a lot of people when it comes to my pitching skills. I missed my entire junior year because of a stress fracture in my femur. That experience taught me a lot about humility. Even though I was hurt, I went to every practice and helped the team anyway I could. I never thought about walking away from my team and my coaches.
My senior year has been incredible. I am so grateful to be back playing the sport I love at 100% with coaches who believe in me and a group of girls who have each other's back. My team is headed to the state tournament where we are the second seed. I was just named 2nd team all-league pitcher and invited to participate in the league all-star game on June 3.
My team didn't do as well at state as we had hoped. We finished the season 22-2 which is something I'll always be very proud of. I was fortunate to be given the Sportsmanship award in our third game at state where I had three strikeouts and gave up two hits in 3 2/3 innings. The all-star game was a blast. I pitched three shutout innings, struck out five and even better, my team won 10-1.
I am still working hard every practice to improve and become a better pitcher and overall player. I'm looking forward to playing softball in college and being part of a team.
