I tell people softball was never my main sport because I was never good at it. Everyone in my family thought I was going to go somewhere with basketball. Until middle school, I noticed I was getting stronger and coaches were starting to complement me and my ability. Then it pushed me to start putting in more effort, I was the kid that would stay a hour after practice to work on the things that I needed to work on to make myself a better softball player and I kept doing it until all that work paid off. I quit basketball because I absolute fell in love with this sport and I showed myself that hard work pays off. My sophomore year I suffered a torn popliteus and meniscus. I was out for 7 weeks and I only got to play 8 games. Everyday I showed up to practice knowing I couldn't do anything but every day I sit there and try to step and throw the softball I would try to step into a pitch and hit it but I couldn't. Before games I would stand out there and just throw a little bit just to see if I could. The day that I got cleared to play again was a week out from my first travel ball tournament, and right after that doctors appointment I went right to the softball field and did reps reps reps, I was sweating and my knees are bleeding but I was working. Every day I was out there pushing myself even harder than I was the day before.
