Personal Statement

My name is Bailey. I am currently a junior at Marshall High School. I am a full time student, and I am a hard worker in the classroom. I take part in a lot of different programs around the school to help make our high school and our community a better place, one of the big ones being Athletic Excellence. In Athletic Excellence we talk to students our age and under about the use of alcohol and tobacco and any other drugs and how they are no good for you. Especially kids in sports, we remind them that these are not the types of activities you want to participate in! We also help people around our community stay safe and happy. We recently had a Marshall Grad pass away, and at one of the High School football games we had a "Tailgate for Telly" before hand and all of the money we made went to Telly's family. This way we were able to help them with hospital bills, and with funeral purchases.  I am in a few honors courses.  I take Psychology 2,  Spanish 4, and I am also in Anatomy and Physiology. My favorite classes in school are gym, because who wouldn't want a free hour to run around playing games and winning? I also like Choir, I have always been one of those kids with a big passion to sing, and yes, I learned that because for the past 10+ years I have been signing in the shower! Even though I am sure it wasn't the best sound, my parents always thanked me for giving the whole house a concert! Outside of school I am a very active kid. I am on a Crossfit/ Lifting team and I practice about 3-4 times a week and I am hoping to start competitions in March! When you join the Lifting world, it's easier starting young because you pick up on things faster. My trainers just eat me alive because I learn things so fast and I am always willing to go the extra mile if needed. When I am older I hope to do something in the Health and Fitness world. I live for happiness, and seeing other people happy helps me go about my day. If I could train people and make them healthier and feel better about themselves, then I win. Ever since I was a little girl my dream has always been to play softball. And these past couple years I had been putting in the work and trying my hardest to get better. My freshman year I had a great season, sophomore year I had some health problems and it really messed with my game and I didn't get to where I wanted to be. As a junior in high school, it has finally sunk in that, "You know what, I want to play college softball and I am going to do what it takes to get there. " Overall, I know that playing at a Division 1 level is going to be difficult, with my passion and dedication for the game, I know I can do it. And I will do what it takes to get there. I crossfit 3-4 times a week, I lift 5 days a week, and I am always using my off days for either softball, and or hitting the books and studying. One last thing about me. Family is my #1. There are no if ans or buts about it. I do what I need to do for my family, and I will never let them down. I have had such a solid home life, and I am so grateful for that. My brother has always and will always be my role model and the man I look up too. He has never failed to put a smile on my face and I doubt he ever will. My parents have always been hard on my brother and I in a good way. They want us to be the best we can be, and I will forever thank them for that. They have shaped me into the person I am today and I couldn't thank them enough.
