Emily Nelson '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Emily Nelson; I am a 2023 Graduate from Mondovi High School. I am a student athlete that strives for success both academically and athletically. I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old, and my goal is to play at a collegiate level. My favorite positions are catcher and shortstop, but I am a versatile player that will play wherever my team needs me except pitcher.

 I am a great leader, I’m super coachable and always willing to learn a new perspective on something, I get along with people well and am willing to help others if they need me to help them. I love traveling to play sports and I love learning new positions, I will play anywhere a coach needs me to play to help better the team. I have been a varsity starter in both softball and volleyball. I have played travel softball and volleyball since I was 10 years old.

Academically I strive be the best student I can be. As a Junior last year, I enrolled in the Pre-Nursing and Healthcare Academy at Chippewa Valley Technical College completing college classes alongside my high school classes and maintained a 3.52 GPA. I decided to apply for the High School Academy for full time classes my Senior year and was accepted. I will be completing some of the needed generals at CVTC to get a head start on my college career, and I chose to do this because it would give me a head start on getting to where I want to be in college. I was able to do this because I can be a student athlete and put school first but also manage my time to do sports as well as keeping my grades up. I keep my grades up so I can be on the honor roll, and because without good grades I wouldn’t be able to do what I love because as a student athlete if you don’t put school first you are risking your ability to play if your grades drop.
