My name is Olivia Champagne and I am a freshmen at Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. I've been playing softball for 10 years and also play competitively in two other sports: figure skating and tennis. I love competing and work hard balancing school along with sports. I have a high GPA (currently 3.9) and my best subjects are English and Algebra.
Attending Brewers baseball games at Miller Park first started my interest in the sport - I loved watching games and joining the fun crowds cheering on the Brewers. My parents signed me up for T-ball and then Little League softball where I have continued to grow as a softball player and teammate.
I learned the lessons of perseverance and how to overcome obstacles playing sports. Every jump and spin I mastered in figure skating came after falling dozens of times on the ice and getting right back up. Every pitch I learned in softball came after throwing thousands of pitches to my father on the sidewalk in the front of out house, along with the many lessons from pitching coaches I received. I keep trying because I want to improve.
My goals for high school are to graduate with a high (3.8 or better) GPA and ACT scores. I also want to be a pitcher and/or outfielder for my high school's Varsity softball team while continuing to play for a travel softball team during the summers. This summer I am hoping to become a T-ball coach for the younger children, just as the other high school softball players were for me. Currently I play for the Oak Creek Junior Knights softball team. (part of the Oak Creek Little League). Our 14U team won to Wisconsin State Junior League championship last summer and I hope we repeat this summer as well as win the Midwest Regional championship and represent the Midwest at the Little League World Series.
My goals for college are to take challenging classes that will help me with my future career and life after college. I would also like to play for a college softball team and become a positive role model for the younger softball players.
